Honda innovative airbags

First, Honda will introduce these airbags for the first time in the Acura TLX 2021 sedan (note that Acura is the luxury car branch of Honda, which is only available in the American market), to be spread in the rest of its cars later.

In traffic accidents, there is always a risk of cerebral trauma due to opening the passenger front cushion at the wrong angle, and therefore Japanese manufacturer Honda decided to work to find a solution to this problem by cooperating with Autoliv, the provider of auto safety systems.

The new airbag takes the form of a baseball glove, as it picks up the front passenger's head and slows its acceleration forward in a way that does not let it escape its "fist" (knowing that sliding the head off the cushion increases the risk of serious injuries).



The new airbag consists of 3 inflatable parts, consisting of a master pillow in the center, plus two cushions on each side. This is in addition to an old sail-like "plaque" connecting the two side pillows, whose function is to slow the head from acceleration.
